Ch's can be prevented w/ correct meds

In the past I went, here in Chciago, to the Diamond Headache Clinic. People from around the world go there. Their goal was to STOP the CH's from happening while in a session. I would get shots and drugs to stop/prevent them. If the headaches only hit after that at night they adjusted the meds to stop night time headaches. If the headaches came only during the day they adjusted the meds to stop them.

For the past 7 years my insurance will not let me go to this place since they are not part of the plan. So unless I want to shell out a lot of $$$ from my own pocket, I go to my GP doctor and we play the hit and miss game of what does it take to just control them the best we can.

So for all who I see on here stating that they are on meds and still get a lot of night time headaches, there is help for that. And help for the daytime CH's as well. I guess its just finding a place that will work with you. The clinics goal here was to STOP/PREVENT all headaches while I was in a session. Yes I did get some and each time adjustments were made to the meds.

I had very painful LONG sessions of CH's years ago. The longest was 18 months. As many as 8 Ch's in one night. I still remember that night because I had to call for an emergency refill delivery of oxygen that night. I even spent 10 days in a hospital for them once.

My heart really goes out to those who have been having Ch's for years now. I am lucky to have a place here in Chicago that I can go to for help if the CH's get too bad.

So Ch's can be stopped/prevented while in a session, but it requires a doctor that wants to work with you to stop them and just not treat most of them.

I hope this comes accross the way I mean it. I do not want to affend anyone here. I am just trying to say help is out there in the event your doctor can't help completly. God knows that 20 years ago, it was one week before I found out about the clinic, I was laying on my bedroom floor with a gun to my head during a CH. Glad I didn't do it and found a doctor to help.
