hi everyone... my insurance co.will only cover 12 imitrex injections per 34 days...used them up in first 2 weeks...i'm screwed,next 15 days are gonna be hell... jerry c....p.s blue cross blue sheild ins.....appeal wont work in time for me

tlc, search the archives, there are posts in the library about how to use less of the imitrex and make the medications last longer. Some people I believe have actually been able to get the vial to regulate how much they get rather than the set amount. Cat

Yep. Almost all of us do. The problem is that the insurance companies consider Imitrex a migraine medication and everyone knows that you only get a couple of migraines a month. The only option is the appeal process. Your doc needs to call or FAX them telling them the additional Imitrex is a medical necessity (Drummmer has done this and gets all the trex he wants from Blue Cross). Your Doc has to go to bat for you and keep hammering on the Ins Co. In the mean time, maybe you can get some free samples from your doc.
