I and You
You,
invisibile and unrestrainable being
that vent your hate and rage
in my head and in my heart;
You
that hard cling
and trouble my soul
manipulating with cunning my fantasy;
You,
deafening as the loudest noise
suddenly explode in my mind;
You,
dragon, that face up to me,
force which aims to vanish the colour of my soul;
You,
that wound me, stifle my breath,
clamp me in your vice,
know that I am not afraid of you any more.
You dragon, I knight,
swords reflect and shout resound,
two opposite forces are fighting...
I and you, confused presences
but I will rise and you will leave!

And who is to say what is beautiful, and what is not... What is poetry, and what is not. Art is work from one's heart... From their soul... And art is beautiful. Giacomo Leopardi was mistaken. The evil is not that poets want ppl to view their work... The evil is that critics try to say what is and what isn't art.

Tom, you posting that statement to this thread is a contradiction. You obviously read the poem, and no one forced you to do so. If you see the title poem in a thread, and you feel it's evil to make other people read them, then you best look at the man in the mirror. No one has ever twisted anothers arm on this board to read a poem or thread or anything else.

The difference between a critic and an artist... An artist tries too hard to show what they are feeling, and a critic tries too hard to rationalize it. The sad thing about you Tom is that until you are able to stop trying to rationalize things into nice neat little boxes in your "b r a i n", you'll never see the true beauty that art offers us. Art is a feeling... Art is an emotion... Art is love... And art is hate... The one thing that art isn't is apathy, which you must be overly endowed with. May you one day be able to open your eyes, and open your heart, and see the wonders that art and life have to offer.

I don't know why Tom decided to post his criticism about the poem, even if he does feel that way. It just struck me as odd since it didn't seem his style, which is what I meant by "I don't know why...". When fights break out here I never see him tangled in one. Basically all I've seen him do here is answer people's questions and offer to help. I don't know of many other doctors, sufferers or not, who do that and kicks around here just to offer us laypeople answers when we ask. Like I said too, I don't know why he said that about Zaira's poem (It was a nice poem, by the way, Zaira) because it did seem out of character for him. Maybe he had a bad day? Maybe his cycle is just starting and he had a REALLY bad day? Maybe there's some history there that we don't know? But what I do know is this. I almost never see people thank him for sticking around to offer his medical opinion/expertise for us. Instead, when he puts out a negative post one time, like most of us here have before, he gets brought down hard.
Tom, thank you for being here and doing what you do for us. ATB
Zaira, I liked that drawing you did too. Hopefully we'll see more of your artistic talents of words and drawings.

I didn't bring anyone "down hard". Nor was I trying to argue with him. I was just expressing my point that art is more than a mental concept. I found it a bit unfair how he attacked Zaira with such unconstructive, hurtful criticism, after she was generous enough to share her art with us.
